As a mother of 4 children, I will write that everything written is general words about nothing. There should not be any open shelves in the apartment. They accumulate dust, especially in a small apartment. On the contrary, cabinets should be large with a mezzanine section so that seasonal items and everything that is used periodically can be stored in signed cardboard boxes. Make them with beautiful light, non-glossy facades and they will dissolve on the walls. Tall cabinets in the kitchen are a must! in general, it is better to make furniture to order, it is not more expensive than buying high-quality ready-made, but it will use every millimeter of your area. My life hack is to count cabinets and racks according to the width and depth of sections for plastic boxes with lids (from Ikea) of different sizes - this is a fantastic way to pack everything tightly, but always have it visible and accessible, just open the doors. This is how we store children's toys on a specially designed high rack, food in kitchen cabinets, and in general everything. In the hallway, see in which corner a narrow deep closet for outerwear will stand, and where - a narrow, but high and long, in which you will place shoes in boxes out of season (on the upper shelves with doors) and shoes that you are wearing now (on the lower shelves without doors) For information, for a family of 6 you need at least 18 "parking spaces" for 1 pair of shoes. it is better to spend money once and place everything on the wall on a convenient rack than to get confused in a pile of shoes near the front door all your life. We store outerwear that we do not wear now in the closet, tightly sliding it together, and jackets and down jackets are generally on the mezzanine in cardboard boxes. But what we are wearing now is on a hanger with hooks. For children and adults, shelves with hooks of different heights are needed - they are also along the wall with a narrow passage. Optimal - three sections of 6 hooks: for small, medium and adult family members. In the shoe cabinet, I built a small section with shallow drawers for hats, mittens and gloves for each family member. This section of six drawers takes up a minimum of space (45 cm high and 90 cm long), but everyone knows exactly where all his scarves, hats, panamas, passes, etc. are located. When four children run to school together, they get dressed instantly - no searches in a pile of junk. Bunk beds are YES too! But we must bear in mind that it is uncomfortable for a person taller than 150 cm to sit on the first floor. Many children are already in grades 5-6 higher. A standard 90cm wide mattress eats up extra centimeters. The solution is custom-made beds with increased height and a small width of the mattress. 80 cm wide is enough for one child, even tall and large, and this frees up a lot of space in the room. The bed is a transformer ... To be honest, this is an expensive stray of an incomprehensible purpose. On the same area, you can put a folding sofa and mezzanine shelves above it. More functional, cheaper. In general, there are a lot of life hacks, you must always start from the specific dimensions of the room.

transformer furniture is a super-duper solution for small apartments, but they cost almost like apartments)
